6 Days From Marrakech To Merzouga

6-Day Tour from Marrakech to Fes via the Moroccan Sahara Desert

Join us for a 6-day adventure, starting in Marrakech, and journey through the stunning Sahara Desert! You’ll see a lot of amazing places. Highlights include the majestic High Atlas mountains, Tizi-N-Tichka pass, Ait-Ben-Haddou Kasbah, and the city of Ouarzazate. Plus, don’t miss Amridil Kasbah, Dades Valley, and beautiful Todra Gorges. Of course, the Merzouga Sahara Desert is a must-see! You can ride camels, witness enchanting sunsets & sunrises, and spend a magical night in a desert camp. Explore Merzouga’s sands in a 4Ă—4 car. There’s also a stop at the Rissani market, which is quite traditional, & Erfoud, known for its fossils. Then we will visit Ifrane – sometimes called Switzerland of Morocco – and the cedar forests home to Barbary macaques. Finally, we’ll explore Fes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities. This exciting tour wraps up as you arrive in Fes!

Morocco Itinerary: 6-Day Desert Tour from Marrakech

Our 6-day desert tour kicks off with an early morning pickup from your accommodation or the airport in Marrakech. The journey takes us through the captivating High Atlas mountains & Tizi-N-Tichka pass. We’ll stop often to soak in breathtaking views. Next up is Telouat Kasbah.

Continuing on our adventure, we visit Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah—a UNESCO World Heritage Site! This famous fortified village has featured in films like Gladiator and The Mummy as well as shows like Game of Thrones! Finally, we reach Ouarzazate, also called “The gate of the desert.” Dinner awaits you at your hotel for your night’s stay.

After breakfast on Day 2, we’ll check out Atlas Studio—where many popular movies have been filmed—and Taourirt Kasbah near Ouarzazate. Then it’s southeast toward Skoura to see Amridil Kasbah surrounded by palm groves.

Next stop? Rose Valley! Each May there’s a bright Rose Festival here where locals showcase their lovely rose products—from perfumes to rose water and oils. Afterwards, we’ll drive through Dades Valley & stop at a viewpoint to admire those spectacular Dades Gorges.

Next up is Todra Gorges! The river has cut deep into the mountains here—creating an impressive canyon with high red cliffs all around. Enjoy some free time for lunch—take a stroll through these stunning gorges while appreciating nature’s beauty!

In the afternoon we arrive at Merzouga Sahara Desert! Here, it’s camel time! Enjoy riding over soft sands as you chase an unforgettable sunset on top of a tall dune before heading to your luxury desert camp. Listen to the beating of Berber drums & dance around the campfire while stargazing overhead—dinner is served here too!

Get ready for an early wake-up call on day three—enjoying beautiful sunrise in the desert is a must! After breakfast, we hop back on camels for our return trip to Merzouga where our driver will be waiting.

Today is all about exploring this amazing area filled with incredible spots like sand dunes and serene oases—perfect for outdoor fun!

We start with an off-road drive to visit an ancient eyeliner mine before visiting local nomads in their handcrafted woven tents—learn about how they live while sipping Berber tea together!

Then onward to Khamlia village for some lively Gnaoua music & dancing performances from people who hail from countries like Mali and Sudan. Enjoy free time for lunch at a restaurant nearby after all that fun.

Next? Let’s stroll through palm groves before driving just a few kilometers to witness Merzouga’s wild lake—also known as Flamingos Lake! Dinner & an overnight stay await at your hotel.

After breakfast on Day 4 we depart the desert for Rissani town—the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Here you’ll find one lively souk bursting with energy every Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday!

A little strolling at Rissani souk leads us next to Erfoud where you can visit fossil workshops—it’s really cool!

As we continue along Ziz River—a stop offers panoramic views of Ziz Valley…absolutely gorgeous! Pause again for free time lunch in Midelt before visiting cedars forest where Barbary Macaques reside—wonderful creatures who love snacks!

Next up is Ifrane famous for its chilly weather and cute alpine-style houses—you will see why it holds the title ‘Switzerland of Morocco.’ Finally—to wrap it all up—we transport you safely back to your accommodation in Fes.

day five after breakfast we’ll meet at your hotel to start exploring Fes—a true imperial city that represents Morocco’s culture & religious history!

Our first stop? The Royal Palace gates followed by wandering into Fes’ well-preserved medieval Medina—listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site! Entering via Bab Boujloud (the Blue Gate), you’ll have a local guide who’ll lead you through fascinating sites like Medrasa Bouanania & Najjarine fountain… not forgetting tanneries too!

Finally see Quaraouin mosque—it’s known as the oldest university globally! Upon leaving Medina let’s stroll over to Jewish Quarter (“the Mellah”) then onwards to an ancient fortress—for those panoramic views of Medina awaiting you above!

And now back you go to your riad.
