Tour Overview
Tour Itinerary of a 5 Days from Fes to Marrakech Morocco Tour. In these 5 days – 4 nights, you will visit so many fascinating places in a brief span of time. The tour covers Fes as the starting point. First, we will visit the Switzerland of Morocco – Ifrane, and the cedars forest. A break is taken in Midelt to have a meal and then continue the trip along beautiful Ziz river. Next stop is at the Merzouga Sahara desert. Here you can take a camel trek, have a night in an extravagant camp right into the heart of the desert. And also catch a glimpse of the extraordinary sunset and sunrise in the expanse of Sahara. In addition the rissani market and the city of fossils Erfoud will be visited. Then visit the Todra gorges, Dades gorges and several Kasbahs such as Ait Ben Haddou and Amridil. Last but not the least traverse the high atlas mountains and the Tizi-n-Tichka pass. At last the tour finishes in Marrakech.
Itinerary
The 5 days desert tour begins with a very early pickup from the airport or accommodation in Fes. Then the southward journey takes us through Imouzzer to reach Ifrane, a city that has a cool climate, lots of snow as well as alpine houses – This is where Morocco earns its nickname as the Switzerland of Morocco. Then we also continue to cedars forest where lives the barbary macaques. Get to their level and feed these lovely creatures while wandering about the exquisite woods. Later on, we head to the town of Midelt where lunch will be taken. After that we begin our drive to the Saharan ain chkor driving via Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and Ziz river
By the afternoon we arrive at the desert sahara of Fes merzouga. Where you ride on the camel and enjoy a ride in the sand sea. A break will be provided for you to appreciate the beautiful sunset around the highest dunes. Thereafter you will proceed to the Luxury camp where it is quite entertaining with active Berber drums music in the night beside a campfire and outside sky full of stars. Enjoy the supper and departure to the camp under the arriving night.
To enjoy the stunning view of the sunset across the desert, getting out of the bed early in the morning is also compulsory. Free time for breakfast. Then you return with camels to Merzouga where the driver is waiting. The whole day is dedicated to discovering the area of Merzouga. The region comes with so many amazing sites: sand dunes, a wild lake, the mines, fossil sites and even lovely oases. Which are perfect sites for so many activities
Firstly we will set off for Merzouga and pick up some 4×4 excursions to reach the site of an ancient liner mines. Then we are paid a visit to the nomads in their hand stitched tent. How do they live drinking a cup of Berber tea? Next on the list of places that we can visit is Khamlia village where you will enjoy the Gnaoua music and dance. Its residents are people from sub Saharan nations which include Mali, Sudan among others. Free time for lunch in a restaurant. After that to palm trees we went for a walk. Then we drive a few kilometers to see the wild lake of Merzouga aka flamingos lake. Dinner and an overnight In an apartment hotel.
Rissani is a town renowned for trade that is surrounded by a populated souk active primarily on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. On a visit to Rissani Souk, we move on to Erfoud where we visit one of the stores dealing in fossilized marble. Then we course across palms of Touroug and Tinjdad to head to Todra Gorges. The course of Todra river has eroded an impressive gorge through the mountains – thus forming a steep sided river gorge of red cliffs. The gorges are ideal for those wishing to indulge in rock climbing. It is also possible for visitors to stroll around the gorges and enjoy the gorgeous settings. It is possible to retire for lunch in a restaurant. Following that we move to the Dades Valley passing Boumalne Dades. So there are certainly all possible photo stops at “monkey fingers” rock. And on a viewpoint of the Dades valley from a mountain settlement. At last, dinner and overnight in hotel.
Breakfast is finished and we proceed in our excursion in the south of Morocco to Kalaa Magouna and Rose valley. It takes place in May every year on a big scale.
